Woman Accused Of Mailing Drugs To Jailed Husband
A Massena couple face charges after the wife allegedly tried to mail drugs to her jailed husband.
St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies say 34 year old Jessica Dodd allegedly mailed a letter in July 2013 infused with a narcotic called Suboxone to her husband, 30 year old Darrell Dodd, who was an inmate at the county jail.
Jail staff intercepted the letter before it reached the jailed man.
Suboxone is a drug used to treat drug addiction. See a New York Time story about how it's used and its dangers.
Each Dodd charged with second degree promoting prison contraband and fourth degree conspiracy. Jessica Dodd was also charged with third degree attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance.
Darrell Dodd -- who is no longer in jail -- was issued a ticket to appear in Canton town court at a later date. Jessica Dodd was arraigned in Pierrepont town court and released to the supervision of probation.
Deputies say they turned the results of their investigation over to the United State Postal Service, which could impose large fines.
