Woman Accused Of Embezzling Nearly $35K From Credit Union

A 44 year old Natural Bridge woman is accused of embezzling nearly $35,000 from the United Neighbors Credit Union on Eastern Boulevard in Watertown.

City police said Mary Kjersem of 42346 County Route 40 turned herself in Thursday.

According to police, Kjersem stole $34,912.47 between January 1 and November 3 of this year.

She was the credit union's manager during that time period.

Police said the credit union was in the process of doing an audit on November 3, when Kjersem went to her superiors to inform them about the embezzlement.

After turning herself into police, Kjersem was charged with third-degree grand larceny.

She was arraigned in Watertown City Court and released on her own recognizance.

Police said the case will go before a grand jury.
