Police Identify Woman Airlifted Following Car-Motorcycle Accident

A Watertown woman was in fair condition at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse after her motorcycle collided with a car Wednesday morning.

City police identified the woman as 23 year old Brigid Russell of Court Street.

Police said Russell was driving a motorcycle northbound on Mill Street when a car traveling east on Hoard Street pulled out in front of her.

"It's not your typical fender-bender," said Watertown police Lt. Michael Mullins, "there were injuries involved."

A section of Mill Street in Watertown was closed to traffic Wednesday morning following the accident.

The street was closed between Katherine and Highland streets.

Russell was airlifted by helicopter to Syracuse for treatment of chest trauma and cuts to her head and leg.

Police said she was drifting in and out of consciousness while en route.

No tickets were issued, but the investigation is continuing.

The photos were taken by 7 News reporter Candace Dunkley, who was at the scene.
