Woman Charged After Allegedly Kicking Police Officer

A Canton woman faces charges after she allegedly kicked a Potsdam police officer during a domestic dispute.

Police say 21 year old Kendra Newman was resisting arrest when she kicked the officer.
 
Police say the domestic dispute was Monday afternoon on Maple Street in the village. They say Newman also damaged a jacket and stole a baseball cap.
 
She was ticketed for disorderly conduct, second degree harassment, petit larceny, criminal mischief, and resisting arrest.
 
Newman told 7 News she acted in self defense, and is pregnant. She said she spent several hours in the hospital Monday as a result of the incident.
 
She is scheduled to appear in Potsdam village court at a later date.
