Work Underway To Bring Greek Yogurt Plant To North Country

The Ogdensburg Bridge & Port Authority is working to bring a Greek yogurt plant and up to 50 jobs to the region.

The OBPA is paying Phoenix Corporate Services of Boston, Massachusetts, $40,000 to develop a marketing prospectus.

The plan is to use the marketing plan to attract a Greek yogurt plant to set up operations on a 60 acre site in Lisbon or in the OBPA Industrial Park.

The plant could generate up to 50 jobs.
OBPA Deputy Director Fred Morrill said this is the first time the authority has used this type of a marketing strategy to find a company which may be interested in locating a yogurt plant in Ogdensburg.
"We have farms here and there's a need for yogurt and we have a site available. It would make sense for someone to locate a plant here and that's what PCS will be concentrating on," said Morrill.
Morrill said PCS will create a list of 350 to 400 potential developers and seek request for proposals from those who may end up being interested.
