YouTube Clip Brings Fame To West Carthage Boy
The Staabs might seem like your average American family, but there's a star among them.
Little 4 year old Brody is in a commercial for the new Google Nexus tablet and phone.
It shows four seconds of Brody as a 1 year old.
Though the commercial's been playing nationally, his family never intended for Brody to be an actor.
"I just started the YouTube channel a couple years ago, because we had family scattered around and we wanted them to be able to watch clips of our boys," Brody's father, Adam, said.
The ad agency working for Google thought Adam Staab's video, Spill and Laugh, which had only 900 views, was the perfect fit.
Adam Brody explains how Google tracked down the family.
"What they did was they watched some other clips on my YouTube channel and they saw a sign that was hanging in the background in one of the clips that was my wife's father, Bill Johnston Construction, and it had a number and the town, Carthage, NY."
The ad agency tracked down Adam and signed Brody into the Screen Actor's Guild.
Within two days, the commercial was on the air.
In addition to Brody being seen by millions of people and having hometown notoriety, Google is setting up a trust fund for him.
