Zoofari Teaches Kids About Critters

Tools

Chinchillas, rats, and snakes -- some of the animals Watertown kids are checking out this summer.

It's called Zoofari Camp and it's taking place at the Thompson Park Zoo.

Students from kindergarten through sixth grade are playing games related to the animals. While the games are fun, the major goal is for everyone to learn.

"I learned a lot," camper Abby Stiner said, "that chinchillas are very delicate and that they live on high mountains."

"This week, we're working on classification," said zoo educator Cassie Vinette, "so we talked about mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds, invertebrates -- that type of thing.

Classes are once a week and run through the end of August.

This week's session was for students in first and second grad
