Owens: I Pushed For Creekwood Funds Too

If Creek Wood Apartments is getting a state grant today, Rep. Bill Owens is claiming partial responsibility.

The congressman's office is circulating a January letter Owens wrote to the state Department of Homes & Community Renewal in which he asked the agency to provide low income tax credits and state subsidies to the 96-unit project.

"This would be a tremendous step forward in addressing the need for affordable rental housing in and around Fort Drum," the congressman wrote.

Lt. Gov. Bob Duffy will make an announcement regarding the project in about one half hour at Starwood Apartments, which, like Creek Wood, is a Norstar development.
