Twenty-eight

By Jude Seymour

To push their cause for a tax on millionaires, the Center for Working Families has produced charts showing that 28 people in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties had taxable incomes of more than $1 million in 2005.

They've provided a breakdown by Assembly district and Senate district. (h/t CapTon)

Of the state lawmakers who represent those three counties, only Assemblywoman Addie Russell has supported extending a tax rate on millionaire's for one year, which is estimated to bring in an additional $706 million in revenue. (Russell wants some of that to partially restore education aid cuts.)

Sen. Patty Ritchie, Joe Griffo and Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush have argued that a tax on millionaires is a job killing proposition that will drive wealthy New Yorkers from the state.

There are 32 residents that reported taxable income in excess of $1 million in Ritchie's district, which includes Oswego County and 87 residents in Griffo's district, which includes Oneida County.

Russell's district has 18. Blankenbush's area has 10. Again, those numbers are as of 2005, before the most recent downturn in the economy and before Matt Doheny bought his house on Paddock Street. (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

CNN has reported that Gov. Cuomo is one of the few Democrats who took campaign contributions from the Koch Brothers. Given that bit of information, and given the way the Gov is acting, we are in trouble.
