Governor David Paterson is looking to legalize same-sex marriages in New York. The measure needs legislative approval.  Here are some of your messages about that:

"It is very troubling that our governor and other voices in the legislature seem bent on normalizing a perverse lifestyle and practice."

Steve M. Weller

"Refusing to allow same sex marriage is a violation of civil rights."

Katherine S. Barkley

"Why don't our lawmakers just put this to the voters in November and see what the VOTERS think on this issue."

Ken Decker

Watertown lawmakers are considering higher fees for using city services. Here's a sampling of emails:

"To many low income families, the city bus line is the only form of transportation available and the city pools are the only healthy recreation for their children. There must be some other avenues...to aid the city budget that won't hit those who need the services most."

Amy S. Quackenbush

"The city needs to take a real look at cutting costs not spend more money."

Joe Parson

Watertown police say two recent collisions between motorized wheelchairs and vehicles highlight the need for extra care. Most of our messages this week are about this subject.  Here's a few of your emails:

"If slow moving vehicles such as farm tractors, wagons, Amish buggies, etc. are required to have a colored triangle, then motorized chairs should have a "flag" that extends above the chair with a colored triangle if they are going to be road-worthy."

Patricia L. Drappo

"I have noticed that they do tend to think they have the right of way and not the car/truck on the road.

Mindy Allen

"The law for vehicular traffic is to yield to everyone in the crosswalk.  That includes all pedestrians - wheelchair bound or not."

RW

"City sidewalks are practically impassable any time of year where they have not been replaced. This is not a 'driver' issue. This is a city council issue."

William D. O'Neill

The owner of an Alexandria Bay nightclub has really rattled some cages with a plan to hire cage dancers for the upcoming tourist season.

"Isn't there enough trouble in the Bay in the summer without adding cage dancers? Next thing you know, someone will want strip clubs."

Steve Bingeman

"Put the girls in Go-Go boots and 60's attire and have fun!"
