Governor David Paterson unveiled a proposal last week to slash millions of dollars in state aid to north country schools as a way to reduce New York's growing deficit. Here are some of your emails:
If they cut school aid, all that will happen is increased taxes at the local level. Harold Campbell Sackets Harbor consists of essentially one school building. They don't need both a principal and a superintendent. Get rid of one of them. When do we have the guts to start cutting the fat. Bob Johnson If Paterson really wants to save some money...let's revert to using sand on our roads in lieu of salt. Don Cannan How does Paterson expect the children of New York to get a good education now? Barbara Trahan Schools should look at cutting extracurricular sports and activities. It's that time of year when deer are on the move and, if you're not careful behind the wheel of your vehicle, chances are you're going to hit one. Here's a sampling of your messages:
I have hit 4 deer over the last 10 years or so. I didn't see a single one of them until after I hit them. Scott Burrows Maybe if NYS did not raise the price of (hunting) licenses, we might not have this problem. Larry Deets I sit back and laugh at the DEC saying slow down and watch both sides of the roads. Well it would be much, much better if they would mow back the side of the roads so you have a better chance of seeing the little devils. Name Withheld Most Popular
