Your Turn: Your Feedback On Farmer Bailout & Airport Runway

Tools

Struggling dairy farmers are getting a federal bailout. In the north country, it's millions of dollars, but it's cash that won't last long in an industry industry fighting to stay afloat.

Here are some of your emails:

The farmers have been taking a beating for a long time - decades actually. The federal government may be helping them out, but the government has been sending more money elsewhere rather than taking care of their own here at home.

This would not have to happen if the milk market was not controlled by MEGA monopolized companies. This is too little too LATE for most small family farmers.

It sure is nice that the farmers got some help. Now someone explain to me why the government won't help the trucking industry so I can survive.

The Watertown International Airport is looking to bring in larger planes by extending the runway but the catch is, the feds are only meeting them halfway. The good news is - the federal government has approved a runway extension. The bad news is - it's not long enough.

This is what some of you had to say:

Many of us who no longer live in Watertown would rather fly straight to Watertown than have to go through Syracuse. I think those of us who left must number in the thousands - so please do extend that runway so we can go back for a quick visit.

If viable options were available, I would definitely fly more often. I travel by car to many destinations that I wish I could easily fly to, Boston for example, or even NYC.

The north country needs this runway.  It would make the north country more accessible to business and young people.
