On Tuesday, the Jefferson County Legislature is expected to vote on the payment in lieu of taxes deal for the Galloo Island wind project.  We asked how you would vote.

The area is too beautiful to pollute with these windmills that have not proven their worth.

Hounsfield & Sackets Harbor certainly have the right to pursue any opportunity to enhance their revenue streams. However, it seems that towns like Henderson will overwhelmingly bear the deleterious consequences of the inevitable power line transmission construction, negative visual impacts, environmental quality decreases and the resulting reduction in property values.

There have not been enough studies on the economic value of the turbines to our area. The companies are taking the lion share of the money and little left for taxpayers in general.

I am in favor of doing whatever is necessary to see that the Galloo Island wind project goes forward. The north country economy would benefit greatly from the project. The bottom line is jobs.

Could a paw print found in the snow near Hyde Lake belong to a mountain lion? A Theresa woman believes it does because she says she has seen the animal.  However, officials with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation doubt it's a cougar.

Rumor has it that the DEC released mountain lions to cut down on the deer population, but they won't tell you that.

The DEC will not say there are cougars in northern NY, but in this year's hunting regulations it states that it is illegal to shoot a cougar, which wasn't in last year's regulations. What's up with that?
