Your Turn: Your Feedback On Nursing Home, Accident Victim & SROs

River Hospital in Alexandria Bay could shut down its nursing facility because it's operating at a $300,000 loss.

Here are some of your emails:

My mother has dementia and has been a resident at River Hospital for 4 years.  Someone should be ASHAMED for eliminating 44 jobs and, most importantly, for displacing 27 of our society's most vulnerable citizens in their greatest time of need.

Lori Phelps

It would not be right to lose a hospital in order to attempt to keep the nursing home. You would probably end up losing both.

Sallie Russell

I am an employee of River Hospital and I am proud to support the hospital's decision. Isn't it better to lose 44 jobs rather than 200?  Our hearts go out to all the families that are going to be affected by this closure.

Carrie Baker

As an employee going to lose my job and a taxpayer, I find it ironic that no bailout for the elderly can be found!  I find it disturbing that the release of this story came before the residents losing their homes were even told!

James Bain

A Massena teen was killed in an accident last week. We asked you to share your thoughts about Robert Rochefort:

Robert was always kind, caring and had a smile on his face.  He will be missed.

Alyssa Joubert

He was like the perfect friend anyone could ask for.

Katie Snyder

My heartfelt condolences and prayers are with his family.

Michele Graham

If Governor Paterson has his way, state police will be removed as school resource officers across New York.

Here's a sampling of emails:

It would be a bad decision if the SROs are removed.

William Hall-Jones

SROs are a nicety in normal times and maybe even a great idea in principle. But folks, these are not normal times and we all have to tighten our belts.
