Governor David Paterson announced he's dropping his election campaign.

Here are some of your thoughts.

It's not like we would have re-elected him anyway. We who live in northern New York, ya know the areas above Albany, have had enough of his nonsense.

Dawn Fields

People would think differently towards Paterson...if we weren't having such difficult economic times.

Father Terry LaValley has been named the 14th Bishop of the Diocese of Ogdensburg.

This is what some of you had to say:

I couldn't be more delighted with the Pope's selection.

Viviane Roach

He is a caring and compassionate person and priest. The Catholic community is better for this choice.

The Diocese of Ogdensburg is looking at reorganizing, consolidating and closing some parishes.

We asked for your feedback:

It's really sad that the parishioners have to suffer this unnecessary burden.

Amanda Michalski

I was raised in South Colton and attend both St. Paul's and St. Patrick's in Colton. It would be a shame to close it.

Frank Baker

The Ogdensburg City School District says teacher layoffs and program eliminations are on the table if the district doesn't get money from the state fast.

Here's a sampling of your emails:

Why not hurt the futures of our students even more by taking the teachers/counselors away from the school budget?

Melissa Willis

Raising school taxes would be one way to go. Another, they have already done, cutting out supplies and materials. The only avenue left is cutting school personnel.

Nelson Howard

Governor Paterson wants to delay the refunds as a way to ease New York's financial pinch. But, the state Senate is saying no way.

Here are a couple of responses:

If I didn't pay my taxes, I would receive a penalty. If the state doesn't refund our taxes on time, they should pay a penalty to us.

Susan White

Refunds should be sent out promptly.
