Senator Darrel Aubertine announced last week that the Ogdensburg Correctional Facility will not be closing - thus saving nearly 300 jobs at the prison:


The news is great! We have turned a potential disaster into a victory for the Ogdensburg area and its surrounding communities!

They finally got something right in this hard economic time! Now I will be able come back to the north country where I was born and raised rather than having to spend my entire career south of Albany!

A 22 year old Calcium man who served in the Army was killed in Afghanistan.  Sergeant Erick Klusacek was laid to rest last week:


For every fallen soldier in our north country I lower my flag to half staff. He or she has died for our freedom.

My heart is broken for the Klusacek family. Erick was a fine man who wanted to provide a good life for his wife and daughter. It saddens me deeply that their hopes and dreams are now shattered.

I am thankful these brave soldiers are coming home. My heart will rest easier knowing they are out of harm's way.
