Your Turn: Your Feedback On Common Core, Jail, Vet & More

Primary school-aged children across the north country were subject to Common Core testing last week, but not all of them took the test because their parents decided to opt them out:

Opting out is not a bad thing to instill in a child as long as they understand that it is only right when something is grossly wrong.

Dylan La Bumbard

Opting out is ridiculous - home school your children if you don't like what the public school system has to offer. Don't teach your children that they can cop out of every difficult thing that comes their way.

Christian Taylor

For more than 20 years, the Jefferson County Jail has worked under contract with the city of Watertown to hold suspects awaiting arraignment. It turns out that's against state law:

It's a ridiculous law, especially when Cuomo is pushing for towns and counties to share services in order to save money.

Earl Stopfel

Isn't their job to enforce laws? How can you be enforcing them if you don't know them?

Ryan Smith

One of the 16 people injured last week by a shooter at Fort Hood, Texas was Major Patrick Miller, a former Fort Drum soldier who called the north country home for two years:

So very sad. Hope he will come out of it ok.

Mary Ellen Dishaw

Always had a smile on his face and a ready joke!! My hopes and prayers for a full recovery to you sir!!

Thanks to the group Honor Flight Network, a terminally ill WWII vet took an all-expense-paid trip to Washington to see the military monuments:

With how poorly some of our veterans are getting treated in this country, this kind act fills me with a lot of hope.

Noah McCarthy

Well deserved!! I hope he has a wonderful trip.
