A Gouverneur woman who left her infant son unattended for hours each day to work in Jefferson County pleaded guilty to reduced charges. Mercedes Sanderson will likely be sentenced to probation:

This woman should not be allowed to be around children including her own. Probation is unbelievable!

We really need to take more responsibility for the young mothers whose husbands are in Iraq and have no other family around. There needs to be a program funded by the government to do home visits.

One of St. Lawrence County's assistant public defenders is calling it quits.  Chris Curley says there are more cases to handle and many of the cases require more work:

State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli says two members of the Turin town board filed a false report with the state about the town's justice court. Justice James Chase acknowledged problems in his record keeping, but said he never received proper training:
