Funeral services for Renate E. Sullivan, 69, SH 3, will be 11:00 AM Saturday November 14 at the Adirondack Funeral Home, Harrisville, NY with the Rev. Mark Gilbert, Pastor of the East Pitcairn Wesleyan Church officiating. A calling hour will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to the funeral.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County or the Harrisville Fire Dept. Online condolences may be made at www.adirondackfh.com.
She died Wednesday evening at her home while under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
She was born in Frankfurt Germany February 25, 1940 to Karl and Johanna Nee Schosser Schmidt. She graduated high school in Germany.
She married Bernard A. Sullivan May 2, 1958 while he was stationed with the US Army in Hochst, Germany . He died June 11, 2009.
She served was employed by the United States Postal Serice for 25 years retiring as postmaster of the Fine Post Office in December of 2004.
She also assisted her husband in the operation of Sullivan’s Truck and Diesel.
She was a devoted mother and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons and their wives, Bernard and Deborah, David and Candy and James and Connie, all of Harrisville; two daughters and a son in law, Brenda Sullivan, Harrisville; and Emily and Greg Edwards, Pleasant View, TN. She also has 11 grandchildren, 6 great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by a sister Margot Plattner.
