James L. McLear, 78
James L. McLear, 78, died November 14, 2009, at his home. Calling hours will be at the funeral home on Thursday, November 19th, 1-5 PM. Memorial service to follow at 5 PM, Sister Mary Teresa LaBrake, GNSH officiating. Arrangements are with the Allen-Nichols Funeral Home, Ogdensburg. Surviving are his wife Patricia, sons, Michael (Gloria), Robert (Linda Talcott), Stanley (Betsy), Warren (Susan), Patrick (Jean), John (Cheryl), Kenneth (Julie), Ogdensburg, daughter Bonnie (Gary) Gilson, Hermon, 22 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren. He was born in Ogdensburg, October 23, 1931, the child of Lloyd McLear and Madaline Holmes McLear Lassor. His stepfather Leo Lassor also predeceased him. He was in the U. S. Army from 1948 – 1952, earning the Korean Service Medal with 5 bronze stars. He married Patricia Carriere on March 17, 1952 at St. Rita’s Church in Deferiet, N.Y. He worked at Diamond International, Universal Cheese and finally Stella Cheese until his retirement. He was a troop leader for Boy Scouts of America in Lisbon, a Charter Member of the Oddfellows, Ogdensburg, a member of the Ogdensburg Volunteer Rescue Squad for more than 10 years, and a member of the St. Lawrence Valley Horse Association. He enjoyed showing his horses, camping and he loved to be with his grand and great grandchildren. Contributions can be made to the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Dept. and Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley. |
