Marie F. Ward, 81, West Carthage
Marie F. Ward, 81, Champion Street., died Tuesday evening at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse. Born in Croghan, NY on January 23, 1928, the daughter of William J. H. & Geraldine Marilley Barnes, she was a 1946 graduate of the Carthage Augustinian Academy. She married Harold C. Ward on September 30, 1948 at the Grace Episcopal Church in Carthage, with the Rev. Dr. H. Curtis Whedon officiating. She was primarily a homemaker and was involved in volunteer work and was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Ward is survived by her son, E. William “Bill” Ward, Greenville, South Carolina, her sister, Clotilda McCormick, Baldwinsville and her brother, John Barnes. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her siblings; Elizabeth Barnes, who died in 2009, Margaret Rancier, who died in 2008 and Henry Barnes, who died in 1957. A funeral service will be held in the Chapel of the Bossuot-Lundy Funeral Home, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 21, 2009. Burial will follow in Black River Cemetery.
