Clifford Ames, 87, of Apollo Beach, Florida and a native of Canton, New York, passed away November 13th. He was born October 18th, 1922.

He moved to Florida in 1983 with his wife Cora and continued to spend most of his remaining summer’s on the Raquette River at his camp in Brown’s Bridge.

He is the son of the late Alban and Grace Riley Ames. He served in the Army’s 740th AAA Gun Battalion and participated in the Battle of the Bulge.

He was honored with: the American Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, and the WWII Victory Medal.

Clifford Ames married Cora Deugaw in 1952. He retired from ALCOA in Massena in 1983. In addition to his wife, Cora, two sisters survive him: Gertrude Richardson and Shirley Burns and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his brothers: Albert, Richard and Thomas as well as sisters Bernice and Marie. A funeral service is set for Monday November 23rd at St. Anne Catholic Church in Ruskin, FL. Inurnment will be in Norfolk, NY at a later date.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Anne Catholic Church’s organ fund at 106 11th Avenue, NE Ruskin FL 33570.
