Pat Caramanna smiles easily when he's talking about 1959.

The Adams resident has reason to smile: he was fullback, wingback and a linebacker for Syracuse University's 1959 national championship team.

It was a team that wasn't expected to be 'anything great.'

Of course, it was.

"Our group was just unique," Caramanna recalled.

The team held a reunion at S.U. a couple of weeks ago.

"The time has gone very very quickly. We've stayed in touch as a group," Caramanna said.
