An old friend stopped by the studio on Wednesday...  Former major leaguer and former Watertown Indians manager Ted Kubiak is visiting the area for a couple of days...  Ted and I have kept in touch over the years... He's a great person and a great baseball man...  Ted played 10 years in the majors, most notably with the Oakland Athletics of the early 70s...  While with the A's, Kubiak was a part of three World Series Championships...

Ted spent three years as manager of the Watertown Indians...  He was a joy to cover and we became good friends from that relationship..  Some of my happiest days was covering minor league baseball in Watertown... It began with the Watertown Pirates in 1983 and the Watertown Indians beginning in 1988.... It was fun to go to the Duffy Dome and watch some future Major Leaguers...  Names like Jay Buhner, Moises Alou, Sean Casey...  I'm glad I've been in this business long enough to have those memories... This is Mel Busler rounding third and heading home...
