At the State Cross Country Championships at SUNY Plattsburgh, two North Country runners made their marks as two to watch in cross country competition.

Matt Chaney of Beaver River finished second in Class D boys cross country, propelling his team into second in the team standings.

His coach, Will Gelling, says he isn't surprised that Matt has taken a lead on the team, but expects him to improve even more.

Meanwhile, a South Lewis standout is making a name for herself in the track and field world as a young freshman.

Victoria Campanion placed second in Class D girls cross country, but her coach Jack Bernard says she's developed her talent since a young age.

These two North Country athletes, along with Amy Bodette of Canton will also participate in the federation meet in Wappinger Falls this weekend.
