Her coach will tell you she's been a talented runner since "elementary school."

For Victoria Campanian of the South Lewis Central school district, that wasn't all that long ago.

At 15 - and a freshman - Victoria took a Frontier League title in cross country and placed second in both sectional and state races.

She finished 53rd out of 251 runners in a major race in Wappingers Falls.

Her coach, Jack Bernard, praises Victoria's "great work ethic."

"It really doesn't surprise me." Bernard says. "Since the time she was in elementary school she's been a talented runner."
