Lady Blue Devils Move On in State Play with Win Over Chiefs

The Ogdensburg Free Academy Lady Blue Devils are moving further into state play with their win over Saranac in Class B regionals.

Megan Morrison led the squad to a 46-44 victory by hitting her two free throws after being fouled in the last second of the game.

A senior, Morrison also scored 27 points in the win over the Chiefs, saying that she couldn't ask for a better team or better win.

The girls move on to the quarter finals at Hudson Valley Community College, Saturday at noon, against Watervliet.

This spring, the South Jefferson Lady Spartans are looking to add their names to the elite North Country lacrosse teams, like Watertown and Carthage.

Ending the 2009 season with a 13-5 record, the Lady Spartans say they are ready to move the program to the next level.

Coach Jen Williams says that year-round play has helped improve skills and transitions and should mean a more competitve group with players stepping up to lead and exhibit confidence on and off the turf.
