FOX-28 Racing 2012

With lots of hard work by Deb and the kids we managed to get the FOX 28 car back in action Saturday night to kick off our 2012 season.  We are starting a few weeks behind schedule, but that is okay.  We have been a busy family.  All three kids are playing lacrosse for the first time.  We are busy trying to finish up our newly installed swimming pool and other yard work.  My work has been insanely busy, which is not a great reflection of the world we live in.  So, with all of this, we are a bit behind with our racing.

Saturday night we headed to Can-Am.  The car drove really good for the first run and we had no mechanical problems.  We purchased lots of new parts in hopes of being faster and they all worked fine.  I started the feature 10th.  I spun early in the feature as I attempted to avoid another car going into turn 3.  Luckily no one hit me when I spun.  I restarted at the back (14th) and raced my way up to 4th.  We were pretty happy for the first night.  We'll adjust a bit and hopefully be even better next week.

Because Saturday night went well, we decided to venture to Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in Elbridge.  I had never raced there before and it was on my list of places to race.  We had an enjoyable trip, with great weather.  A Super Dirt Series Big BLock race was also scheduled, and so the kids got to see all their modified favorites.  The track is big, fast, dusty, narrow and slippery.  I started the feature 17th.  Because I couldn't see the cars ahead of me and because they kept bouncing off each other I decided to ride out the 30 laps.  I finished right where I started.  The kids got to crew in the pits for the first time ever, and so they were excited.  They did an awesome job for 11, 9 and 9 years old.  Overall we had a fun family day, although because of the track I won't hurry back.
