Report: Marrone To Take Bills Job

The man must like a challenge.

Doug Marrone, the head coach of Syracuse University's football team for the last four years, is taking head coach duties vwith the Buffalo Bills, ESPN reported Sunday.

Marrone is credited with reviving the moribund S.U. football program, which had a 26-57 record in the seven years before his arrival. He finished with a 25-25 record.

Marrone will replace Chan Gailey, who was fired Monday after the Bills went 6-10 for the second year in a row.

The Bills last had a winning season in 2004, when the team went 9-7, and has finished out of the playoffs for more than a decade.

Although S.U. was Marrone's first head coaching job, he had seven years as an assistant coach in the NFL before taking the S.U. job.
