Sports Scores: Tough Day for North Country Teams

The playoff push ended for many teams throughout the north country on Saturday.

Two north country boys hockey teams suffered losses in state final four competition.

Bishop McQuaid beat Massena 5-1 and John Jay Cross River beat St. Lawrence Central 6-4.

In high school basketball playoffs, Beaver River's championship season ended Saturday with a 65-42 loss to Moravia.

Beaver River scored the first four points, but Moravia responded with a 25 point run, with Beaver River only able to score another two. By the end of the first quarter, the score was 25-6.

As well, Beaver River had trouble with three point shots, dropping only one during the game.

The Beavers finished the season with a 21-2 record.
