Saturday night turned out to be an interesting night to say the least for the Watertown Red & Black... The local semi-pro football team hosted a pre-season game against the Western New York Cougars... It was a hard fought, defensive struggle throughout the first half... Towards the end of the first half, tempers flaired and some dirty deeds were done... Both teams approached each other as halftime started... No punches were thrown but a lot of jawing went on... Finally, the teams were escorted to the lockers.... The Red & Black agreed to sit their player that help to start the incident but the Cougars were not as accommodating... They said if their player couldn't play, neither would the rest of the team... So the Cougars go home and the game ends at halftime... All the while I'm thinking to myself, this is only a preseason game... I can't wait for the regular season to start.... This is Mel Busler rounding third and heading home...
