3 North Country High School Teams Win Semi-Finals

Sackets Harbor and Madrid Waddington will play each other for the state's class 'D' championship Saturday, after both teams won their semi-final games Friday.

South Jefferson's girls are also bound for the finals.

Madrid Waddington scored its first semi-final win ever, beating Livingston Manor 67-55. Madrid Waddington dominated the game, leading by 15 at one point in the fourth quarter.

The Madrid Waddington win sets up a classic north country battle, pitting the Yellow Jackets against Sackets Harbor, which beat Batavia Notre Dame Friday morning, 50-40.

Saturday's game starts at 5:30 in Glens Falls.

Meanwhile, South Jefferson's girls beat Aquinas Institute of Rochester 47-41 in Troy. 7 News reporter Sarah Compo, at the game, says South Jeff led most of the way and got a key three-point basket from Arin Crowell late in the fourth quarter.

The South Jeff girls play their final at 4 pm Saturday, against Irvington.
