Area Athletes Face Off In Cross Country CompetitionsCross country is one of the toughest sports to compete in. Athletes compete against others as well as themselves. There was plenty of competition Tuesday in both the Frontier League and Northern Athletic Conference. Indian River, South Lewis and Watertown faced off in the Frontier League. In boys, South Lewis beat both Watertown and Indian River. Watertown beat Indian River. In girls, South Lewis beat both Watertown and Indian River, with Indian River over Watertown. At the Northern Athletic Conference Invitational in Gouverneur, Canton girls won, followed by Malone in second and Norwood-Norfolk in third. Malone won for the boys, with Gouverneur second and Norwood-Norfolk third.
