The Watertown Red & Black almost pulled out a win Saturday night against the Northeast Pennsylvania Miners, but a fourth quarter interception cost the Red & Black its last chance to come back, and the team lost to the Miners15-12.

It was the Red & Black's home opener in Empire Football League competition, played at the Alex Duffy fairgrounds.

Also at the fairgrounds Saturday night, the Watertown Rams kept winning, beating Cooperstown 6-4.
