LaFargeville NY… Caprara’s Can-Am Motorsports Park kicked off their final night of Saturday racing for the 2009 season on Saturday, September 19, 2009. In action were are Run What You Brung Modified race, SUNY Canton Sportsman Series, SUNY Canton Street Stock Series, Purestocks and Thunder Cars. The Purestock, Thunder Car, SUNY Canton Sportsman and SUNY Canton Street Stock divisions also crowned their 2009 track champions.
Stephane LaFrance and Rob Bellinger would lead the What What You Brung Modified to the green flag with LaFrance taking the lead on the field. Stephane LaFrance would jump out to the lead while Billy Dunn would slip under Rob Bellinger for the second position. Stephane LaFrance would continue to lead the way while Billy Dunn would contest heavily for the lead. Tony Steiner would hold on to the third position comfortably while Robby Bellinger would round out the top four. On a lap 12 restart, Billy Dunn would move to the outside and take the lead from LaFrance. Two laps later, LaFrance would move to the inside of Dunn and take back the lead. Stephane LaFrance would take the win over Billy Dunn and Tony Steiner.
Kevin Gamble and Anthony Stockman would lead the SUNY Canton Sportsman series to the green flag. Kevin Gamble would take the early lead while Matt Hulsizer and Brandon Sweet would fill out the top three. Brandon Sweet would move to the inside of the speedway to take the lead from Kevin Gamble. Matt Billings would move under Brandon Hagan to take the fourth position while Matt Hulsizer would move around Luke Whittaker for the second position. Matt Billings would also move under Luke Whittaker for the third position. As the checkered flag would drop, Brandon Sweet would collect the win over Matt Hulsizer and Matt Billings. Matt Hulsizer would take the SUNY Canton Sportsman Points Championship.
Russ Marsden and Scott Smith would lead the SUNY Canton Street Stock Series to the green flag with Scott Smith sliding to the outside of the speedway around Russ Marsden for the lead. Dave Mannise would move high around Russ Marsden to take over the second position while Keith Doxtater would slip into third. Keith Doxtater would slip under Dave Mannise to take over the second position but Mannise would fight back to maintain the position. Mike Schultz would slip under Russ Marsden to take over the fourth position while Ron Wadforth climbed into fifth. Scott Smith would move under Keith Doxtater to take the third position while Dave Mannise would take the lead. Mike Schultz would move high around Keith Doxtater to take the second position while Sid harmer and Scott Smith would complete the top five. As the checkered flag dropped, Dave Mannise would collect the win over Keith Doxtater and Mike Schultz. Ron Wadforth would take the SUNY Canton Street Stock Championship.
Kyle Sharp and Scott Lampson would lead the Purestocks to their feature event in which their 2009 points champion would be crowned. Scott Lampson would jump out to the early lead on the field while Shane Ray would dart to the inside of the speedway to take over the second position. Jason Gilmore would move to the outside of the speedway and look to take over the fifth position from David Rogers. Jason Gilmore would slip to the inside of Kyle Sharp and would enter the top three while Shane Ray would still continue to lead the way. Jason Gilmore would then side by Scott Lampson for the second spot while Steven Gilmore would move by Kyle Sharp and Scott Lampson for third. As the checkered flag would drop, Shane Ray will collect the win over Steven Gilmore and David Rogers. Steven Gilmore would be the track champion.
Michael Stewart and Dan Way would lead the Thunder Cars to the green flag with Dan Way jumping out to the early lead on the field. Robert Martin would quickly move into the second position while Larry Tefft would fall into position number three. JR Durham would slip under Larry Tefft to take over the third position while Steve Malbouf would take over the fifth spot. JR Durham would slide under Rob Martin to take over the third position while Steve Malbouf would find himself on the back bumper of Robert Martin’s car as they would head into turns three and four. Ray Bechler would slip under Steve Malbouf to take over the fourth position while JR Durham would move high around Dan Way for the lead. As the checkered flag dropped, JR Durham would collect the win over Dan Way and Robert Martin. Robert Martin would collect the track championship.
Caprara’s Can-Am Motorsports Park will resume racing on Sunday, September 20, 2009 with a SUNY Canton Sportsman and Street Stock Pit Stop Challenge. Joining them will be a SUNY Canton Sportsman and Street Stock Dash for Cash.
