Wolves Fans Give New Arena Warm Reception.Posted: Updated:
This is the first season back for the Watertown Wolves after taking a season off while the municipal arena was being renovated.
The last season they played, they won the Federal Hockey League championship.
So, how are things going now?
Everyone at Monday night's Wolves game has a favorite something.
Some like the hits.
"I like all the action," Hayden Houghmaster said.
"The only huge fight that broke out was literally right in front of us," his mother, Julie Houghmaster said.
Others like the unique views.
"We were here last game and I like it better up here," said Kimberleigh DaSilva, who has season tickets.
And some just like the newly renovated arena itself.
"I really like what they did with the place," AJ Imhoff said.
The Watertown Wolves' hockey season is about halfway done, and after having to take a year off because of the $10 million arena renovations, co-owner Vincent Cesario says in the long run, the new look helps bring in more fans.
"This weekend we had 800 both games, Friday and Saturday," Cesario said. "Fans were always treated to pretty decent level of play because of the ice and the glass, but now they're sitting in more comfortable conditions and, obviously, have a brand new facility is just icing on the cake."
But there's one thing that pretty everybody says they like the most."
"It's not freezing," Cindy Lamon said.
"Way better," DaSilva said. "I like that it's heated."
Cesario said fans seem to be enjoying the experience more, "with the heat and the comfortable conditions."
Over 550 people attended Monday night's game, all hoping for the Wolves' championship magic from 2015 to repeat.
