The only deployment scheduled so far for the 10th Mountain Division this year involves the Combat Aviation Brigade.
Most of the brigade is going to Europe for the next nine months.
A deployment and casing of the colors ceremony happened Wednesday afternoon.
The majority of the brigade will be stationed in Germany, but soldiers will be spread between a number of countries including Poland and Bulgaria.
They are taking part in Atlantic Resolve, a mission to reassure European allies in light of Russia's invasion in Ukraine.
"That's why we're there to reassure our NATO partners and allies and we're also there to deter foreign aggression," said Col. Clair Gill, commander of the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade.
The brigade will be joined by a battalion from Fort Bliss in Texas.
More than 2,000 soldiers are taking part in the mission.
