Town Orders Audit Of Redwood Water & Sewer Funds

Town Orders Audit Of Redwood Water & Sewer Funds

Posted: Updated:

The town of Alexandria is taking a hard look at its finances, particularly those involving water and sewer services in Redwood.

The town board approved going forward with a forensic audit Wednesday night to account for any missing funds dating back to 2009.

That's because former town clerk Ellen Peck admitted to embezzling $26,000.

Town Supervisor Dale Hunneyman says Redwood's water and sewer districts may have been involved.

"We had our public accounting firm here to explain to the people and show them that everything was kosher, everything's transparent," he said. "So we're trying to make sure that all our finances are in order in the Redwood sewer and water district."

You can find the town's financial statements since 2015 on the town's website.
