The Heuvelton girls basketball team defeated Panama 78-54 Sunday morning, to earn its third straight NYSPHSAA Class D championship. The game was held at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy.

This is the second year in a row Heuvelton played and beat Panama in the state final.

The Lady Bulldogs were led once again by senior Paige McCormick, who scored 31 points in her final game playing for the team, following up her semifinal game where she scored 30 points. McCormick was selected MVP of the Class D tournament.

Madison McCormick added 17 points for the Lady Bulldogs, Alex Steele put up 13, Kedan Mack had 11, and Kristi Donnely scored 6.

Heuvelton joins two other teams as the only ones to win three straight Class D titles. Tuxedo did it from 1982 to 1984 and Pine Valley did it from 2003 to 2005.
