A Carthage man is accused of pouring boiling water on the head of a two year old boy, causing the boy to suffer burns.
Raymond Rogers, 18, of South Mechanic Street, Carthage, was initially charged by Watertown city police Friday with assault, second degree, and endangering the welfare of a child. He was subsequently charged with criminal contempt and harassment, for allegedly violating an order of protection held by his girlfriend.
Rogers appeared in city court Friday afternoon and was ordered held on $15,000 bail.
He's accused of pouring boiling water over the head of his girlfriend's son sometime between Saturday and Monday, at 119 East Division Street. Detective Sergeant Chris Thomas said the youth is recovering from his burns. police said they had to catch Rogers, who attempted to elude them by jumping off the roof of 119 East Division Friday.
