Alleged Active Meth Lab In Car Leads To Arrests

Two people from Carthage were arrested early Wednesday morning after police allegedly found an active one-pot meth lab in their vehicle during a traffic stop.

Village Police in Carthage say 49 year old Cindy Childers was driving the car and 44 year old Christopher Skidmore was a passenger.

Police say they also found several materials and equipment used to make meth inside the car. They say they also found quantities of meth and marijuana.

Skidmore was charged with :

- Third-degree manufacture of methamphetamine
- Fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance
- Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance

Childers was charged with:

- Unlawful possession of marijuana
- Third-degree manufacture of methamphetamine
- False inspection certificate
- Drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle
- Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance

Both were arraigned in Wilna town court and sent to Jefferson County jail on $20,000 bail each.
