Torn Up Now, But Sackets Hopes To Have Work Done By Summer

Posted: Updated:

Sackets Harbor is a hot spot when the weather gets warm, but right now a major construction project has West Main Street torn up.

The village is replacing the sidewalks and curbing and repaving the streets in the business district. It's also getting new water and sewer mains and storm drains.

Mayor Vince Battista says the construction should be done by Memorial Day, in time for the busy season.

"It's never easy, but we did it during the slowest part of our year," he said. "It had to be done."

The project will cost $2.7 million, but the mayor says it will not raise taxes.
