No students were injured in accident Friday morning when a car rear-ended a Colton-Pierrepont school bus.

St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies say the bus was heading south State Route 56 in the town of Pierrepont when it stopped to turn onto County Route 24.

That's when the bus was rear-ended by a car that was also traveling south on Route 56.

The bus driver and 14 passengers escaped injury.

The person driving the car was taken to Canton-Potsdam Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

In a statement on the school's Facebook page, district officials say the students who were not picked up by their parents were taken to school after the accident.

There they were given the opportunity to talk about the accident "to relieve any related confusion or stress," officials say.

"We would like to thank the first responders and employees from nearby S&L Electric for working together to ensure the safety of our students," the district's statement said. "The school is proud to have community partners - especially in a crisis situation like this."

Deputies say the investigation is continuing.
