Voters to Decide North School Budgets Tuesday

Voters to Decide North School Budgets Tuesday

Posted: Updated:

Voters across northern New York head to their local schools Tuesday, where they'll be asked to vote on school spending and on who will serve on the school board.

Several school districts in Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties are at their "tax cap," though none are over it. In Jefferson County, that includes Lyme, South Jefferson and Watertown; in St. Lawrence County, St. Lawrence Central, Canton, Clifton-Fine, Colton-Pierrepont, Gouverneur, Hammond, Hermon-DeKalb, Heuvelton, Lisbon, Madrid-Waddington, Ogdensburg, Parishville-Hopkinton and Potsdam are all at their cap. Voting times vary widely. In addition, in several districts voters are being asked to authorize additional spending for items like repairs to buildings and athletic fields or new school buses. Also, local libraries in several communities are asking for money; those requests are items taxpayers will be asked to vote on in several districts.

We'll report the results during 7 News Tonight Tuesday night at 10 PM on WNYF, Your North Country Fox and at 11 on WWNY.
