Stefanik Releases Short Statement On Trump's Handling Of Classified Info
Congresswoman Elise Stefanik isn't saying much about reports that President Donald Trump disclosed highly classified information to Russian officials last week.
A statement from her office Tuesday morning said Stefanik, who is a member of the House of Representatives Intelligence Committee, "takes the handling of classified information very seriously."
Stefanik also chairs the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities.
The Washington Post and other media outlets reported late Monday that Trump shared details about an Islamic State terror threat with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Russian Ambassador to the U.S. Sergey Kislyak.
Trump told the Russian officials about the threat, which involved the use of laptop computers on aircraft, when he met with them in the Oval Office last Wednesday.
