High Water Delays Boating Season On St. Lawrence River

Posted: Updated:

The high water in St. Lawrence County is wiping out the traditional start of Morristown's boating season.

Normally, by now the docks are busy with boats buzzing in and out.

Catwalks at the boathouse at Wright's Marine remain under water and some docks are just starting to emerge from the water.
There are still 100 boats in storage waiting to be launched.

“We haven't put any boats in to speak of because people have made reservations to have their boats put in and then the water got high and they said, 'Well, we can't take our boats because our docks and boathouses are under water,'" said Ron Wright, owner of Wright's Marine.

The hope is that boats will be in by Memorial Day weekend.
