Ex-Nurse Guilty Of Sex Crime On Patient

A former registered nurse at Samaritan Medical Center has admitted to committing a sex crime on a patient he was caring for.

Daniel Glazier pleaded guilty in Jefferson County Court Friday to third-degree criminal sex act.

The 49 year old Pulaski man will be sentenced July 19.

He's expected to receive ten years probation.

Watertown police arrested Glazier in February.

They said Glazier, while employed at SMC, engaged in sexual activity with a 24 year old male patient last August.

According to police, the patient was incapable of consent because he is confined to a medical facility.

Glazier was the patient's caregiver, police said.

SMC said Glazier had been hired as a registered nurse four or five years ago after undergoing rigorous background checks.

The incident happened in the hospital's inpatient mental health unit, SMC said.

Spokesperson Krista Kittle said the New York State Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs notified SMC about its investigation into Glazier last August.

Once the hospital learned about the allegations, it suspended Glazier without pay.

Glazier later resigned, Kittle said.
