Wilkinson Announces 2nd Run For Watertown City Council

Posted: Updated:

A familiar face to the Watertown political scene is running for city council again.

Ryan Henry-Wilkinson announced his candidacy to run for one of the two seats up for grabs on council this November. Wilkinson came close to winning a seat in 2015.

The two main issues he spoke with us over the weekend about were fire department staffing, which he said should stay the same as it is now, and getting rid of the city manager position, giving more responsibilities to the elected mayor position.

"I think we need to work on building the public trust and I think the way that we do that right now is to give everyone a bigger stake in choosing the executive," Henry-Wilkinson said. "People are upset that they don't have enough recourse to hold the executive accountable."

Current Council members who's seats are up, Teresa Macaluso and Steve Jennings, have both announced they are running for re-election.
