Despite Losses, Sandstoners & Lady Bulldogs End Seasons On Positive Note

Posted: Updated:

Two local high school teams were both one game short Saturday in their bids for state titles.

The Heuvelton softball team saw their 20-0 win streak come to an end with a 1-0 loss to Deposit in Class D.

The end of the season means the end of high school softball careers for pitcher Paige McCormick and a core group of Lady Bulldogs.

Despite that, Coach Eliza Pierce said the future of Heuvelton softball looks bright.

You can hear in the video why she thinks so.

Also in the video is an end-of-season wrap-up from Potsdam baseball coach Chris Donah.

The Sandstoners suffered a 7-3 loss to North Salem in the state Class C championship.

Donah said the team hit its stride at the end of the regular season and the Sandstoners finally learned just how good they are.
