The National Weather Service has issued an air quality alert because of high ozone levels in the air.
The alert is in effect for several counties -- including Jefferson and Oswego -- until 10 p.m. Monday. The alert was issued shortly before 11 a.m.
The weather service says when pollution levels for things like ozone are elevated, health officials recommend people limit strenuous outdoor activity.
People at particular risk are the very young and those with respiratory problems such as asthma and heart disease.
Officials say anyone who develops symptoms should consult their doctor.
